This documentary investigates the mercenaries who have made a career out of conflict. Plus: Lucy Beaumont takes to the stage in London. Here’s what to watch this evening

Storyville: Dogs of War

10pm, BBC Four
Up to 100,000 mercenaries are estimated to be operating in conflict zones around the world, as this aggression-filled Storyville documentary tells us, and they have been implicated in global atrocities and blamed for fuelling the illegal arms trade. The programme introduces us to Dave Tomkins, who talks about how he has been fighting other people’s wars for money for 40 years. Hollie Richardson

The Great British Bake Off

8pm, Channel 4
It’s a case of “if the choux fits … ” for Andy in the tent this week. The measurements of his pecan Paris-Brest must be correct to the millimetre if it is to stay intact on the judges’ table. And that’s after making it through the trials of a frangipane tart signature and a very flaky technical. Ellen E Jones

Lucy Beaumont: Live from the Royal Court Theatre

9pm, Sky Comedy

There is a reason Lucy Beaumont has been on your telly screen so much the last few years: she is simply a hoot. In this 60 minutes of offbeat standup, she covers everything from how Hull is trying to be the new Hackney to why bottomless brunches are going to wipe out women. HR

Industry

10.40pm, BBC One
There are more moral compromises made in the name of power in the series finale double bill, spelling out the cost of ambition and the sacrifices made for success. While Yasmin jettisons Robert for Lord Henry Muck – choosing wealth over love – Eric, despite having saved Pierpoint, is struggling to survive. Ali Catterall

Have I Got News for You US

11.05pm, BBC Two
It’s funny to think that when this format was invented, it was before the never-ending barrage of rolling news. How much richer the pickings now – especially for this US version. The big question: are the regulars, Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black, as funny as the UK originals, Ian Hislop and Paul Merton? Alexi Duggins

Dogs of Grime

11.15pm, ITV1
“This is my little G.” Chey and her teacup chihuahua, Storm, are just one grime artist and their pet in this collection of videos about … well, grime artists and their dogs. For unknown reasons, the owners answer tricky questions and take part in challenges with their pooches. HR

Film choice

Fremont (Babak Jalali, 2023), 10.55pm, Film4

Donya (Anaita Wali Zada) is a young Afghan immigrant to the US who used to be a translator in Kabul but now works in a small factory in San Francisco making fortune cookies. Babak Jalali’s empathic black-and-white drama follows her monochrome existence – possibly with residual PTSD – including interactions with Gregg Turkington’s psychiatrist and other helpful souls, as she edges towards resuming a normal life. Featuring a lovely cameo from Jeremy Allen White, it’s gentle but sweet. Simon Wardell

Champions League Football: Aston Villa v Bologna, 7pm, TNT Sports 1
A group stage game at Villa Park.
